Dreams and Sleep

Sleeping is the most important part of life in every human being. We spend a quarter of our lifetime sleeping and dreaming.

Stages of sleep:

Humans have four stages of sleep. Stage 1 is very light sleep, stage 2 is a little deeper sleep. Stage 3 is deeper than stage 2 and it’s also when the muscles relax, the heart rate stops and the blood pressure slows down. Stage 4 is when the deepest sleep and dreams occur. It's also when our blood pressure and heart rate changes and the REM (rapid eye movement) occurs. REM is when our dreams are most vivid and it usually lasts for about 10 minutes. A person will continue REM to stage 4 until they are awake and then jump to deep sleep which occurs more than once during the night.
